Heard Communication is a media training company that specialises in equipping clients to make the most of every interview opportunity.
Whatever your sector, size or structure, Heard Communication can train your spokespeople to be confident, well-prepared, media savvy communicators who know how to deliver key messages in any situation, through any medium.
Heard Communication offers large or small group workshops, or one-on-one coaching, for beginners through to advanced performers. Each session is tailor-made and includes hands-on interview practice with working journalists.
While based in Sydney’s Northern Beaches region, interstate sessions are welcomed and workshops can take place at your workplace or off-site.
Heard Communication believes in the adage ‘knowledge is power’. Once clients know how the media works and what journalists want from them, they can hold their own in interviews, delivering key messages in memorable, quotable ways.
A journalist/producer/presenter for 20 years, Christine Heard has extensive, in depth experience in Australia’s news media, working for both private and public media organisations in radio, television, online and magazines.
Career highlights include reporting on elections in a post-coup Fiji and a newly-democratic Indonesia, covering the bombing of the Australian embassy in Jakarta and witnessing a tsunami-ravaged Phuket. Christine’s current affairs stories have been seen on SBS TV’s Insight program, and she’s made regular appearances as one of the network’s Federal politics correspondents.
Christine is also adept at selling stories and promoting brands, having spent four years in SBS’s Marketing department as Senior Communications Specialist for the organisation’s news and current affairs programs.
In 2011 Christine began working with the Media Skills Network®, helping train clients from the banking, finance, energy, law, tourism, education, agriculture, health, food and beverage, state government and not-for-profit sectors.
She was so impressed with the methodology and results that she completed her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and became accredited as a Media Skills® trainer.
The Media Skills Network® grew out of one of Australia’s most successful media training and advisory companies.
In 1994 two experts from opposite worlds – Jane Jordan, a corporate communication expert and Susan Templeman, a high-level journalist – identified a need in the market for professionally-run media training.
Since then they’ve developed a unique set of techniques, methods and formulae that now form the basis of the Media Skills® methodology. The material is only able to be taught by accredited Media Skills® trainers and is underpinned by a strong understanding of adult learning to create a powerful and memorable training approach.
